I did it! I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a new camera. But I didn’t make the purchase without a little shame though. I have only had the camera for 2 years and had worked so hard to make the upgrade to my Nikon D750. I had got a big chunk of the money by winning 2nd place in a radio station video contest. It is a very cringy video to watch, and I lost the grand prize to a person who made a horrible shitty video and I’m pretty sure he utilized bots to get his views up, but I digress. I bought the camera because it was the best thing I could afford for video, and I could use my vintage Nikkor lenses seamlessly. It would still be a year and half before I really was even able to figure out how to use it to it’s full potential. All the while not ever really taking pictures. I really slept on how good this cameras photo capabilities were and it wouldn’t be fair to move on without having taken a few last hoorah shots, given the fact that it would be the photography and not my videographer ambitions that would allow me to make such a substantial upgrade.
I took these pictures sporadically over the course of a few weeks (no editing, all straight out of the camera). A few pictures accentuating the morning dew at my work, utilizing a home-made dream haze lens. I took a few random object photos to really capture light and sharpness, which always works well since objects don’t move, speak or blink. A few undeniable badass Mustang pics (you really can’t take a bad picture of a beautiful car). Lastly, my dad being proud and looking like a cool guy in the driver seat before he took the car out for an afternoon drive.
So it’s bittersweet time, the Nikon D750 will still be on my team roster, benched, but always willing and ready to be put in the game. And the new Fujifilm X-H2S becomes the star pitcher on our starting line- up.
A new chapter begins and my exploration of photography/ videography continues.
